Cohen Seglias announced that Bran Mahoney has joined the real estate law firm’s Washington, D.C., office as an attorney in the real estate group.
Mahoney will support the firm’s growing commercial real estate practice in the Northeast, with a particular focus on middle-market transactions. The firm’s national real estate group has an established deal-making history representing all parties in real estate transactions, from owners and developers to lenders, buyers and sellers.
Prior to joining the firm, Mahoney worked in Washington, D.C., as associate national commercial counsel for the Chicago Title Insurance Co., and previously was title attorney with Cardinal Title Group and in-house counsel for Washington Capital Partners. His law firm experience includes representing the mortgage industry in the Mid-Atlantic region.
Evan Rassman, partner in the firm’s real estate group and managing partner of the firm’s Delaware location, said in a release, “I’m excited about the expansion of the firm’s real estate group in D.C. The expansion allows our group to meet the growing demand for work in the DMV market. Bran has decades of experience in real estate law and sophisticated transactions. He brings a depth of knowledge related to title and survey and will be a great partner to many of our commercial real estate clients.”
Paul Thaler, managing partner of Cohen Seglias’ Washington, D.C. office, added, “Our office has grown to serve clients across multiple industries, and we are thrilled that Bran’s arrival further expands our real estate capabilities. He brings extensive knowledge of the D.C. market, along with significant experience advising developers, buyers and sellers, lenders, borrowers and funds on development and acquisition, multi-family and office leasing, as well as hospitality and industrial projects in the D.C. metropolitan area.” Cohen Seglias attorneys provide strategic counsel in a wide array of commercial real estate transactions. The real estate group routinely handles complex purchase and sale agreements, development, debt and equity financing, construction finance, large scale commercial leasing, joint ventures, title insurance services, condominium and common interest communities, and preservation projects.
Mahoney earned his J.D. from the George Mason University Antonin Scalia Law School and his B.S. from Florida State University.
