Stewart Title Co. and Stewart National Title Services announced new additions this week.
Gary Cortellessa joined Stewart National Title Services as vice president and commercial underwriting counsel, and Stewart Title Co. added
Morgan Gilligan as vice president, business development officer of the Mid-Atlantic region.
Cortellessa will be responsible for enhancing underwriting services and expanding Stewart's national and multinational commercial business. He will serve customers from the company's Dupont Circle office in Washington, D.C.
With a distinguished career spanning more than three decades, Cortellessa has worked extensively in the metropolitan areas of Washington D.C., New York and Chicago. Prior to joining Stewart, he served as executive vice president and chief operating officer for a regional underwriter and has held senior level positions in management, marketing and the legal area for major national underwriters. Cortellessa has experience in national underwriting of commercial transactions, real property and title insurance law, regulatory matters, claims administration and management.

Cortellessa was past president of the Virginia Land Title Association and owned a title insurance agency in Bethesda, Maryland. In addition, he has served as a court appointed receiver and expert witness in cases involving title insurance, settlement agents and real property transactions.
Gilligan will be responsible for handling Stewart's new business, managing existing business and marketing efforts for the Mid-Atlantic region. Gilligan brings more than 15 years of marketing and business development experience to the sales team.

Gilligan joins Stewart from Craftsman Developers LLC, where he served as vice president, marketing and business development. He serves on a number of industry and charitable boards in the Maryland area, including the Urban Land Institute and the Baltimore City Mayor's Leadership Advisory Board.
