Westcor Land Title Insurance Co. announced Emilio Fernandez is the new Florida vice president, regional agency manager.
“From our first conversations, it was clear that Emilio brings the kind of leadership, experience, and vision we were looking for in Florida,” Michael Trowbridge, senior vice president, eastern area manager, said in a release. “He understands what it takes to build high-performing teams and deliver results, and I’m confident he will make an immediate and lasting impact.”
Fernandez will step into the role as his predecessor Tim Butts prepares for his upcoming retirement. Butts will continue to work closely with Fernandez as he hands off day-to-day management. He will provide support to Westcor agents, the Florida team, and Fernandez as he assumes his new role.
“Tim has been a strong leader for many years, and his contributions to Florida agents and our employees has been immeasurable,” Steve Black, president and chief operating officer for Westcor, said. “We’re confident Emilio will build off the strong foundation Tim has created in Florida over the last 20 years. Tim’s time-building relationships has been instrumental for Westcor’s success, and Emilio will continue to strengthen our footprint in Florida.”
Fernandez has been in the real estate industry for over 30 years, most recently serving as president of Doma Title Insurance Inc. While at Doma, Fernandez was responsible for leading the entire organization and setting its strategic direction. During his tenure, Doma grew its gross premiums written by 500 percent to just over half a billion.
Prior to joining Doma, Fernandez was a partner at the international law firm of Holland & Knight LLP, where his practice included the acquisition and sale of commercial and residential real estate, institutional and private real estate financing, commercial leasing, condominium development and title matters. During his years in private practice, he routinely issued title insurance policies to clients as an agent for all major title insurance underwriters.
