Doma Title Insurance appointed Marilyn Cunningham as vice president, mid-Atlantic regional underwriting counsel. She provides underwriting guidance and support to Doma title agents and attorneys in Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C., where she holds title producer licenses. She also supports agents on residential and commercial transactions involving multiple jurisdictions.
“Throughout the course of her career, Marilyn has acted as agency counsel for a national underwriter and a title review attorney, and managed title and settlement relating to land acquisitions,” Doma Vice President and Deputy Chief Underwriting Counsel Sara Valenz said in a release. “Having been in the agent’s position before, Marilyn has the local insight necessary to resolve title issues and get transactions closed. She also has the knowledge to resourcefully respond to underwriting requests in the busy mid-Atlantic market.”
Cunningham began her career more than 30 years ago as an associate attorney for regional law firm Hazel and Thomas, according to her LinkedIn profile. She went on to serve in vice president and counsel roles at several companies, including Chicago Title Insurance Co. and Westminster Title Insurance Agency, a Toll Brothers company. After launching her own title company and an IT consulting firm, she served as title review attorney for Mid-Atlantic Settlement Services.
“I am in awe of Doma’s long-term vision, enthusiasm and commitment to delivering an accelerated and pleasant experience to our customers,” Cunningham said. “With more than 30 years of title experience in the Beltway region, I bring a teaching state of mind, solution-oriented focus and a sharing heart. Doma has an impressive depth of underwriting expertise and a dedication to education that would attract any title professional. I look forward to assisting others to bring their title opportunities and challenges to a successful conclusion, enabling customers to get into their new homes or offices.”
