Story shared by Susan Garcia Espinosa, Valley Land Title Co.
The experience we have had is with tax offices and appraisal districts who encounter errors or have combined tax accounts, one with a balance, and then seek to collect taxes from years ago from the current owners, who did not own the property at the time.
Fortunately, title insurance gives coverage to the insured for the taxes and they do not have to incur a personal financial loss or deal with the hassle of trying to address the problem with the prior owner or tax office or hire an attorney to assist them.
