The amount of respondents in this year’s Voice of the Title Agent survey who experienced a new form of agent vetting was very close to last year’s number.
While the percentage of respondents who say vetting from a lender was the same as 2024’s survey (14 percent), the percentage who experienced vetting from their underwriter declined from 12 percent to 7 percent. The amount who saw vetting from a third-party service increased from 8 percent to 12 percent.
“One recent request from a lender was for a copy of the filed dba for our company,” a respondent said. “Had never been asked to provide.”
Another respondent said they were asked for their “E&O dec page and current financial statements on the company and a listing of employees and their experience.”
About 18 percent of respondents said they had changes in their lender contracts or instructions during the past year, a 6 percent decline from 2024’s survey.
