Northbrook, Ill.-based Proper Title, LLC, a full-service title insurance agency serving the commercial and residential sectors, announced it has been awarded the “Excellence in Action” award by Fidelity National Title Group, Inc., which is a member of the Fidelity National Financial family of companies and the nation’s largest group of title companies and title insurance underwriters. Proper Title received the award based upon the firm’s performance ranking in a number of areas, including customer service, volume and quality of title work.
“We’re honored to have received the Excellence in Action award for the second year in a row, particularly considering Proper Title was founded just three years ago,” said Ben Niernberg, executive vice president of business development and operations at Proper Title. “This award exemplifies how our team has consistently raised the bar in the title insurance industry and, in turn, grown our business.”
Since its inception in 2013, Proper Title has increased its transaction volume by 400 percent. The firm was also recently ranked second-largest title insurance agency in Illinois, rising from the seventh-place position in 2015 with the Fidelity National Title Group.
“When Proper Title was established, our goal was to deliver title settlement services in a bold, unique way, which we hoped would set a higher industry standard,” said Niernberg. “Accomplishment of that goal is evidenced through our increased volume, our ranking within the industry, and with this award.”
To accommodate its growth, in March, Proper Title expanded its Chicago office from 2,600 square feet to 7,000 square feet, and opened a new headquarters in Palatine, Ill. The new downtown Chicago office features additional space dedicated to the firm’s growing commercial business, including two commercial closing rooms and a separate escrow waiting area with a private entrance. Proper Title’s recent commercial projects include Niche 905, a 202-unit luxury apartment tower in Chicago, as well as Wilder Crossing, a 31-unit condominium development in downtown Elmhurst, Ill.
