Stewart Information Services Corp. named John Hamm as chief information officer (CIO) for its global technology operations. He will oversee the company’s technology department and strategy.
Hamm told The Title Report that Stewart’s willingness to invest in technology is a part of what drew him to the company.
“As I met with different leaders throughout the interview process, I began to recognize Stewart’s high level of competency and great culture. The message was consistent - the leadership team supported the vision and understood the investment needed to be a premier title services company,” he said.
“It further interested me that this role is to lead a global technology transformation, building on an established foundation,” he added. “This role will lead an already talented IT department, leveraging recent and future technology acquisitions to enhance the customer experience by partnering with the business areas and understanding our customer and employee’s needs.”
Hamm also pointed to the company’s strong roots.
“The organization is built upon a solid foundation of more than 120 years of expertise and established processes, has vast data, and is in the right technology era where artificial intelligence, machine learning and scalable architectures are available and within reach,” he said. “My goal is to bring together technology and data intelligence to further enable a consistent and seamless experience for our customers and employees.”
Prior to joining Stewart, Hamm served as vice president of information technology at Texas Children’s Hospital where he led the transformation of their patient digital experience. He has more than 25 years of experience leading IT transformation along with merger and acquisition experience at global Fortune 500 and enterprise non-profit organizations.
“From the beginning, ease-of-use for our customers and clients has been the goal,” Stewart CEO Fred Eppinger said. “Privacy and security will always be at the forefront of our digitization strategy as we design products and services to make it easier for them to use. John’s leadership will be key to developing and executing our technology offerings as Stewart continues to lead and evolve the real estate market.”
Current CIO Brad Rable was promoted to president of technology and operations.
“As we continue to evolve, it’s imperative that we remain focused on all aspects of our technology and digitization with customer experience in mind,” Rable said. “We’ve made tremendous strides over the past few years by focusing on investing in data, tools, services, security and leadership. I’m excited to begin working with John as we continue to differentiate ourselves from our competitors and take our technology position to the next level.”
