Proof has launched Verify, a solution that blends live, human-assisted identity verification with advanced deepfake detection technology to help provide a fraud-proof user experience.
Verify offers a real-time, face-to-face experience facilitated by a live human agent to confirm identities and obtain user authorization. This approach creates a video record of the interaction, providing businesses with indisputable evidence in the event of disputes or fraud.
Financial losses from fraud exceed $81 billion annually in the U.S., according to Proof.
Verify’s deepfake detection technology is powered by Reality Defender.
“Trust is a fundamental tenet to the long-term success of our increasingly digital world, not to mention the billions lost annually to fraudulent actors impersonating consumers online,” Ben Colman, co-founder and CEO of Reality Defender, said in a release. “Proof’s Verify solution is the perfect vehicle for our award-winning deepfake detection platform.”
The Verify platform process includes:
- Users receiving a secure link to join a live video meeting with an agent.
- During the call, users scan IDs, verify biometric data, and authenticate their identity using a valid credit card.
- Proprietary algorithms analyze the video feed for deepfake detection, ensuring authenticity.
- The system delivers results within seconds, confirming the identity and flagging any signs of fraud.
Mark Wilkins, director of customer support at Prisidio, emphasized the solution’s importance.
“With the rise of social engineering attacks, it’s clear that traditional identity verification isn’t enough,” he said. “Partnering with Proof has given us the added confidence to tackle these sophisticated threats with a smart, layered approach that blends technology and human oversight.”
