Stewart Title announced John F. Rothermel, III, senior vice president/regional underwriting counsel and senior underwriter, was recently presented with the esteemed Title Person of the Year Award at the Texas Land Title Association (TLTA) Annual Conference and Business Meeting in Galveston, Texas. The award, which is the highest honor bestowed by TLTA, one of the state’s oldest trade associations, recognizes significant and longtime contributions to the title industry and the association.
Rothermel is a 40-year veteran of the title industry. He has been a committed TLTA volunteer for his entire career, contributing his talent to numerous committees, task forces and special projects.
“John has volunteered countless hours to TLTA and the title industry over many years, answering the call regularly to share his extensive industry knowledge and expertise on legal, legislative and regulatory matters,” Executive Vice President and CEO of TLTA Leslie Midgley, said. “He is also known for his leadership in the field of education and his dedication to enhancing the professionalism of the industry. He is well loved and respected by his colleagues, and we are extremely proud to present him with this much deserved award.”

Rothermel’s expertise is recognized at the state government level, as he is a frequent expert witness before both Houses of the Texas Legislature and has served TLTA as a witness at every rate and rule hearing since 1981. A recipient of the President’s Award in 1998, the Peggy Hayes Teaching Excellence Award in 1998 and the Professional Excellence Award in 2000, he is known for being a superb educator as well as a truly dedicated title insurance professional – a fact further demonstrated by his work and by his many years of speaking and teaching at the Texas Land Title Institute, the Land Title School of Texas and various TLTA regional seminars and Stewart events.
