Simplifile, an eRecording service, now is available to customers in Broome and Monroe counties in New York, enabling recording customers to quickly and cost-effectively record documents online.
“We saw the success that other communities were having with eRecording and how efficient it was,” Broome County Clerk Richard R. Blythe said. “It’s quicker than our present manual process, and the customer can have their recorded document quickly.”
Using Simplifile’s secure, web-based service, customers ranging from title companies to banks, attorneys and lien filers, now can scan or upload and submit documents directly to the county. In minutes, the documents are reviewed, stamped, recorded and returned back to the submitter electronically.
According to Blythe, one of the county’s goals they hope to achieve with eRecording is to reduce the amount of paper needing to be processed and returned.
Blythe also said that his office is accepting deeds, mortgages and assignments for eRecording through Simplifile, and by way of the New York state court system, eFiled civil actions.
“Having Simplifile’s service available will make the recording process so much more convenient and cost effective for both of these New York counties and their customers,” Simplifile President Paul Clifford said. “We’re excited to help them achieve their goals and help streamline the overall recording process.”
Recording fees and payments also can be processed securely through Simplifile, helping to reduce payment errors and eliminate check-writing expenses.
With the addition of Broome and Monroe counties, the state of New York now has 29 recording jurisdictions that have implemented Simplifile’s eRecording service, including New York City and its surrounding boroughs.
