John Magness, president of Old Republic Title’s Central Title Group, was elected executive vice president of the Old Republic National Title Insurance Co. at a recent Old Republic International board of directors’ meeting.
With 24 years of experience in the industry, Magness joined Old Republic Title in 2009 and has carried a slew of different titles in the ensuing three years. In 2009, he started as vice president of Old Republic National Title Insurance Co., Southwest regional operations. Since then, Magness has been elected senior vice president and was promoted to serve as Texas and New Mexico direct operations manager, chief operating officer for the Central Title Group, and, most recently, he was made president of the Central Title Group.
During this time, Magness has played an instrumental role in growing Old Republic Title’s market share in the Southwest, according to the company. His work ethic, management skills and business acumen have contributed significantly to the Central Title Group’s profitability and success, despite a down economy. Magness earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Houston before getting his start in the business as the owner and operator of his own commercial and residential real estate brokerage firm. He eventually transitioned to working exclusively in title insurance. Prior to joining Old Republic Title, Magness had a long and successful career working for another major underwriter.
