Following the July passage of a law authorizing eRecording statewide in Rhode Island, Simplifile added the town of Westerly to its eRecording network, the company announced.
“This is a terrific development for Rhode Island settlement agents and municipal recorders, who have long expressed an interest in modernizing their recording processes,” Simplifile President said Paul Clifford said in a release. “We’re ready to help additional municipalities get up and running — a process that usually takes only days — so they can take advantage of eRecording’s significant time and cost savings.”
Rhode Island is the 48th state to authorize eRecording of deeds, mortgages, and other documents. Only Kentucky and Vermont have yet to begin eRecording.
Simplifile’s said its eRecording service is available in 54 percent of all U.S. counties. Through Simplifile, settlement agents can scan and submit land records directly to participating county recording offices.
