Doma (formerly known as North American Title Insurance Co.) added Karen Woodard as an agency manager for Louisiana. She is tasked with servicing independent title agent and attorney customers and securing new business in an important area of expansion for Doma Underwriting.
“Karen is known in southern markets for her strong ability to run title as an abstractor and has garnered a reputation as a top resource for title curative work,” Doma Assistant Vice President and Regional Agency Manager Ashleigh Spruell said in a release. “She has transitioned effortlessly from the oil and gas industry to real estate and title, and her broad experience gives her keen insight into ever-changing laws and regulations impacting title and legal professionals in Louisiana.”
Woodard has 20 years of experience in title insurance and real estate, including title research and review, abstracting, curative work, contract negotiation and management, real estate sales, legal research, and accounting. She entered the title insurance industry as a legal assistant, where she supported a law firm partner with antitrust, class action, real estate, and estate planning cases.
She continued her legal career as a paralegal serving the oil, gas, and real estate industries, eventually becoming a licensed real estate agent and enhancing her broad skill set as a landman, contract administrator and title company manager. Woodard earned her bachelor’s and master of science degrees in business administration, as well as an associate degree in paralegal studies, from Louisiana State University-Shreveport.
“Having started a small title agency from scratch in North Louisiana and worked as a licensed title insurance producer and notary public, I know what a title professional’s daily life looks like, and what their everyday needs are,” Woodard said. “I’m excited about the future of our tech-forward company, and with Louisiana as a new area of expansion for Doma, I am excited to be a part of the company’s growth in my home state.”
