North American Title Insurance Co. (NATIC) recently added James Rogers as underwriting counsel in its mountain region. Rogers assists with underwriting decisions pertinent to residential and commercial properties in Arizona, Colorado, Utah, and Wyoming, as well as states in NATIC’s Midwest and Western regions.
“After working as a title agent, producer and abstractor, and for a farm credit lender, I was attracted to this opportunity to return to the title industry and work for a progressive, game-changing company,” Rogers said in a release. “I expect NATIC’s blend of industry-leading technology and traditional underwriting to provide powerful tools and resources to our independent agents. I look forward to answering their questions and helping them navigate tricky scenarios.”
Rogers has nearly 20 years of transactional legal experience with an emphasis on real estate transactions, including title insurance, title opinion rendering, survey review and closing. He started his career as underwriting counsel and title department manager for Full Dakota Title in South Dakota, according to his LinkedIn profile. He also served as claims attorney for title insurance underwriter LandAmerica and general counsel for The Title Resource Network in Omaha, Neb. Most recently, he served as senior manager of collateral and corporate attorney for a national cooperative bank for CoBank.
“James’ background working for a major lending institution brings a unique, behind-the-scenes perspective on meeting lender demands,” NATIC Executive Vice President and Chief Underwriting Counsel Valerie Jahn-Grandin said. “He always has a smile on his face and is willing to dive in and help agents on any topic, any time. His positive attitude, combined with his legal experience in several states, will strengthen our agent relationships and help our agents stay current on local and national changes.”
