North American Title Insurance Co. (NATIC)
has added David Jenkins as national underwriting and expansion counsel to support its Strategic and Enterprise Accounts business unit of NATIC’s parent company, States Title.
In this new role, Jenkins will provide guidance on underwriting decisions for business originated by Strategic and Enterprise Accounts and advise associates and customers on instant underwriting files and the legal aspects of title and closing issues.
NATIC said Jenkins also will advise the company’s operations team on the expansion of its instant underwriting product into new states, underwrite residential and commercial title closings, and assist affiliated title agents on extraordinary title issues and real estate transaction closing challenges.
“David’s role is crucial as we continue to innovate, release new products and expand the footprint of our instant underwriting product into new states,” NATIC President Emilio Fernandez said. “Applying his title underwriting background to our research and development will ensure we are complying with state-specific requirements and regulations while delivering friction-free products and services. Furthermore, his broad experience with transactional work is a tremendous asset to our underwriting division as he works with NATIC’s affiliates on intricate title matters.”
Jenkins has more than 30 years of title insurance experience and more than 20 years of legal experience. Prior to joining NATIC, he served for three years as senior national agency underwriting counsel for a national underwriter. In that role, he worked with agents in a variety of areas beyond traditional underwriting support, including compliance, licensing and rolling out new lines of business.
Prior to that, Jenkins spent seven years working for a large national agent based in Atlanta. He served in a variety of roles there, eventually becoming the agency’s director of national title operations, overseeing several departments, including search, exam, production, underwriting and claims, as well as serving as the agency’s primary designated producer for most licensed states.
“With over three decades in the title industry and having served in nearly every role the industry offers, I am in a unique position to guide the company with the expansion of its innovative products, including its machine learning capabilities,” Jenkins said. “I am thrilled to apply my legal background to this more complex area of title and guide associates, agents and customers with those tough title issues that arise at critical points in the transaction.”
