Six of the top seven most-competitive markets in which to buy a house this year were in Washington state, according to a report released by Redfin.
Seattle suburbs dominate the list, with Spanaway topping the list. Spanaway is located about 45 minutes away from Seattle in the Tacoma metro area.
Around 69 percent of the houses sold in the Spanaway market sold above the list price, Redfin found.
Lacey and Tacoma round out the top three for Washington. Wyoming, Mich. was the fourth most-competitive market on the list.
Eastmont, Frederickson and Graham, all in Washington, were the following three on the list.
The Washington markets on the list are all more affordable than Seattle, according to the report.
The median sale price in the city of Seattle was $740,000 in November, significantly higher than $388,500 in Spanaway; $395,000 in Lace;, $392,000 in Tacoma; $415,000 in Frederickson; and $425,000 in Graham. The typical home in Eastmont sold for $655,000 in November.
