IBERIABANK has hired Monica R. Sylvain and the company’s first chief diversity officer, the company announced.
Sylvain, who was also named an executive vice president, will report to President and CEO Daryl G. Byrd and serve as an executive officer on IBERIABANK’s leadership team.
“We know that a diverse workforce allows us to provide superior service to our clients and deliver results for our shareholders,” Byrd said in a release. “We are pleased to have Monica lead our diversity and inclusion efforts. She has a wealth of experience in creating, organizing and leading development initiatives, and will be critical to formalizing and scaling our programs as our organization continues to grow.”
IBERIABANK said Sylvain will create, implement and manage programs and initiatives designed to attract and promote a diverse workforce and foster an open and inclusive work environment, as well as develop a supplier diversity policy.
“IBERIABANK has long strived to employ a workforce that reflects the markets it serves,” Sylvain said. “I am excited to build upon this mission and put development programs in place to ensure we are both attracting and cultivating top, diverse talent.”
Prior to joining IBERIABANK, Sylvain founded and led Posse New Orleans, a comprehensive college access and youth leadership development initiative. She has a doctorate from Louisiana State University and a bachelor’s degree from Howard University.
