The American Land Title Association (ALTA), the national trade association of the land title insurance industry, awarded three National Title Professional (NTP) designations and handed out its “Protecting the American Dream” award during its Federal Conference in Washington, D.C.
The professional designation was received by Marianne Mathieu of Fidelity National Title Group in Mineola, N.Y.; Sarah Sutton of Fidelity National Title Group in Cleveland; and David Townsend of Agents National Title Insurance Co. in Columbia, Mo.
The National Title Professional (NTP) designation recognizes land title professionals who demonstrate the knowledge, experience and dedication essential to the safe and efficient transfer of real property.
“I congratulate this extremely talented group of land title insurance industry professionals,” said ALTA President Frank Pellegrini. “Their experience, dedication and knowledge is more than deserving of this prestigious designation. I appreciate their hard work and encourage all members of the land title industry to apply for the NTP designation today.”
The designation has several elements, including industry and compliance prerequisites and training requirements. To apply for the NTP designation and for more information, please visit the ALTA's NTP website.
Each year, ALTA honors two members of Congress who promote homeownership, protect property rights and understand the value of title insurance with its Protecting the American Dream award, which was handed out this year to Sen. Mary Landrieu, D-La.; and Rep. Ed Perlmutter, D-Colo.
“We are pleased to honor Senator Landrieu and Representative Perlmutter for their efforts to protect consumers as they pursue the ‘American dream’ of homeownership,” Pellegrini said. “Their leadership in Washington combined with their understanding of the important services title insurance professionals provide during the home buying process make Senator Landrieu and Representative Perlmutter extremely deserving of this award.”
Landrieu worked with her colleagues to include a bipartisan provision in the Dodd-Frank law to ensure that the new qualified residential mortgage regulations would not restrict the availability of credit to well-qualified homeowners. Landrieu has served in the Senate since 1996 and is the chair of the Senate Committee on Small Business & Entrepreneurship.
Perlmutter is a member of the Financial Services Committee, and the Capital Markets and Government Sponsored Enterprises (GSE) and the International Monetary Policy and Trade subcommittees. Perlmutter has lived in Jefferson County, Colo., his entire life.
