The Ohio Land Title Association (OLTA) installed its new president, Chip Brigham, along with its board and handed out two major awards at its 2019 annual convention in Columbus.
Old Republic’s John Voso was named an Honorary Life Member by OLTA for his service over the years. Although Voso was out of the country, celebrating his birthday a day earlier, his daughter, Dee, was on hand to accept the award and read an acceptance speech from father.
Voso is the 56th person to earn the Honorary Life Member award, which first was presented in 1957 to three men: C.H. Barsch, George N. Coffey and William R. Kinney. Tim Evans received the honor from OLTA last year.
Janell Downing was granted the title of Ohio Land Title Professional after completing the requirements needed to earn the designation. The designation is intended to recognize individuals who have made contributions to the title industry through their work experience, involvement in OLTA, and the national and regional land title associations, as well as work with other professional organizations related to real estate.
Brigham takes the helm of OLTA from Stan Hunter, who moves into the past president position. Other new board members installed were Dione Joseph as president-elect, Jonathan Holfinger as secretary/treasurer, and Greg Holtz and Downing as board trustees.
They join four board trustees who are holdovers from the previous year: Jeffrey Gammell, John Monacelli, Roccina Niehaus and Michael Trowbridge.
