The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) monthly jobs report indicates 42 percent of small-business owners reported job openings they couldn’t fill in March, more than twice the 48-year historical average of 22 percent.
Small-business owners also reported raising salaries to the highest level in the past year to try to attract hires.
