First American Financial Corp. earned a perfect score of 100 on the 2019 Corporate Equality Index (CEI), the nation’s premier benchmarking survey and report on corporate policies and practices related to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) workplace equality.
First American joins the ranks of more than 560 major U.S. businesses that also earned perfect scores this year from the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Foundation, which administers the index.
“Every day through their actions and treatment of others, our people demonstrate their ongoing commitment to maintaining an inclusive workplace,” First American CEO Dennis Gilmore said in a release. “Our positive, collaborative culture is one of the company’s strengths, as it fosters engaged employees and engaged employees serve our customers well.”
“We strongly believe that combination, along with the efficient operation of our business, ultimately benefits shareholders as well,” Gilmore added.
The CEI evaluates LGBTQ-related policies and practices including non-discrimination workplace protections, domestic partner benefits, transgender-inclusive health care benefits, competency programs, and public engagement with the LGBTQ community.
Earlier this year, First American was named one of the 2019 Fortune 100 Best Companies to Work For.
