Doma (formerly known as North American Title Insurance Co.) recently added two members to its Florida team.
It appointed 20-year title insurance and real estate industry veteran Carlos Rodriguez to lead its independent agency team as regional agency manager for the state.
“We continue to tell a great story at Doma, and Carlos’ impressive career and skill set will help us tell our story even better,” Doma Senior Vice President of Agency Rich Griffin said in a release. “I am delighted to have Carlos join our growing team, as his tremendous experience and legal background will bring even more value to our agents and help them grow and succeed.”
Rodriguez has legal, compliance and business expertise, as well as client management experience both in the United States and abroad. He began his career as a real estate attorney with global law firm Greenberg Traurig PA, before serving in operations and sales management roles for several national title insurance underwriters. He also acted in an of-counsel role at two Florida-based commercial real estate firms.
“I am excited to build on the excellent efforts of our Florida independent agency team and recruit great new team members,” Rodriguez said. “I’m most excited to meet our agency owners and their teams and earn their trust as a valuable resource and go-to partner for their business.”
Doma also added Steven Presley as underwriting counsel to assist with underwriting decisions pertinent to Florida residential and commercial properties; provide legal guidance to associates, independent and affiliated agents; support Doma’s Florida title and examination production and independent agency teams; and develop and present educational courses and trainings on state and national legal and underwriting issues.
“Steven has such varied experience in all components of the title industry in Florida,” Doma Executive Vice President and Chief Underwriting Counsel Valerie Jahn-Grandin said. “His experience allows him to support our agents better, faster and in a more frictionless manner than our competitors. He knows how to help agents close even their most challenging transactions in a seamless manner. He understands their business concerns and is a great partner in helping each agent meet and exceed their customers’ expectations.”
Presley’s title insurance and real estate industry experience spans underwriting and agency; closing and escrow department management; title commitment, survey and plat review; real estate law, and litigation at the federal and state levels. After beginning his career in private practice, Presley went on to establish and manage the real estate closing department of a South Florida law firm. He then served as underwriting counsel at a large national underwriter.
“My diverse background makes me uniquely qualified to assist all of Doma’s agents in assessing risk and insuring title,” Presley said. “My favorite part of the job is knowing that ultimately, I have helped people access the many benefits of homeownership, empowering them to build financial security and use their investments to pursue their personal goals and interests.”
