Associates at more than 1,700 Stewart Title Guaranty Co. agencies and Stewart Agency Services banded together to raise more than $45,000 in the company’s Community of Sharing program. The 2013 campaign supports HelpingaHero.org, an organization committed to helping wounded veterans attain homeownership. For the second year in a row, the Community of Sharing initiative fundraising exceeded the program’s goal.
The success of the 2012 program prompted an increase in fundraising goals this year to $40,000.
“We are overwhelmed by our independent agencies support in this important initiative,” said George Houghton, Stewart’s group president, agency operations. “The success of this program demonstrates our company and independent agencies’ dedication to the community, and their country as well. It’s always rewarding to see someone attain homeownership, and Stewart is especially proud to help our country’s veteran heroes achieve their homeownership dreams.”
Last year, the program partnered with HelpingaHero.org and ABC television’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition to build a custom home for Staff Sergeant Shilo Harris, USA (Ret.). During that time, the Community of Sharing programs raised $42,000, surpassing Stewart’s $35,000 donation goal. Stewart Title also coordinated a mortgage payoff and clear title for Harris’ previous home.
Launched in 2011, the Community of Sharing program brings together Stewart Title Guaranty Company’s independent agencies from across the United States to support HelpingaHero.org. As a part of the program, the independent title agency associates were asked to watch a series of videos to learn more about Stewart products and services that can benefit the agency. Stewart in turn, donated $20 to HelpingaHero.org each time the video is viewed by an agency associate. Agencies can also make personal donations to further the cause. To date, Stewart has raised more than $87,000 for HelpingaHero.org.
