Michael Holden, vice president of field operations for the North American Title Insurance Co. and author of monthly column, “The Ramblings of a Title Man”, has released a compilation of his articles in his first book by the same name.
“The column is a vehicle for me to discuss things I find interesting about the title business,” Holden told The Title Report. “It might be some new case that’s come out. It might be a 200-year-old common law that affects what we do in title today. It might be the story of the land deals that created the Magic Kingdom or the story of the world’s largest land owner. They’re just things I find interesting. People who read my monthly email blast said they wished they had them in a book.”
Holden said instead of the book containing new information, it’s a compilation of his articles from the past six years. He originally began writing them while working for another underwriter.
“They did not have much, if any, content to push out to their agents,” he said. “Since I was the one responsible for business development, I was starving for content. A lot of underwriters produce monthly newsletters, weekly bulletins and online classes. The first ‘Ramblings of a Title Man’ was written just to fill that content void. A lot of people said they liked reading them, so I continued to write them. I like that no matter who picks up the book, there is something of interest to them.”
Holden will be selling his books at industry events as well as online at www.lulu.com and www.theramblingsofatitleman.com.
