Alliant National Title Insurance Co., a title insurance underwriter partnering with independent agents, promoted Margaret Cook to deputy general counsel and senior vice president. The promotion comes as Cook prepares to mark 20 years in the title insurance industry.
Her most recent accomplishments include being the immediate past president of the Land Title Association of Colorado, with additional service on the association’s legislative affairs committee and education committee. She is also past-chair of Colorado’s Title Advisory Council.
Prior to joining Alliant National, her talents were utilized by other title insurance companies, where she served as chief claims counsel and regional counsel. Before starting her title insurance career by joining a regional title insurance underwriter in 1996, Cook practiced law in a private practice.
She has been a featured speaker at seminars held by the American Land Title Association, the Land Title Association of Colorado, the Idaho Land Title Association, the Colorado Certified Closers Association, the National Business Institute, and for several local realtor associations.
Cook received her Bachelor of Business Administration and her Juris Doctorate from the University of Mississippi. She is a member of the Colorado and Mississippi Bar Associations, as well as the Colorado Bar Association’s Real Estate Section.
Cook’s vast knowledge of and strong reputation in the industry will be a great benefit in her new role as deputy general counsel and senior vice president of Alliant National, the company said, as Cook works with senior executive leadership to manage key legal issues and build relationships.
“It has been my privilege to work with the highly capable and talented staff of our independent agents and Alliant National,” Cook said, “and I look forward to continuing to partner in our agents’ success.”
