The Redwood County Recorder and the Meeker County Recorder in Minnesota now are offering eRecording. Instead of having to submit documents by mail or driving to the recorder’s office, customers such as title companies, banks and attorneys will have the ability to scan or upload documents and submit them online.
HomeTown Bank, a local submitter in Olivia, Minn., was the first to electronically record a document in Redwood County.
“The biggest benefit to HomeTown Bank is it makes recording documents a time-saver and more efficient for us,” HomeTown Bank Central Loan Processor Lisa Meints said. “We can get documents recorded the same day without having someone leave the office and go to the recorder’s office. Since there are many other counties using Simplifile, we don’t have to wait for the mail time to and from the recorder’s office on recorded items. I would say going forward the majority of all our documents will be done by eRecording.”
Meeker County Recorder Elaine Lenhard Meeker is accepting satisfactions and assignments. She said after the county is comfortable eRecording these documents, she will begin looking into accepting other documents. Redwood will be accepting all documents for eRecording. They join 66 other eRecording counties in Minnesota.
