Two new Michigan counties, Berrien and St. Joseph, have made eRecording of land documents and records available to customers through Simplifile, along with Jefferson County, Alabama Probate office.
With eRecording available, customers such as title companies, banks, attorneys and other organizations will be able to submit documents to the counties online for faster, more efficient recording.
“With today’s technology, it just makes sense to offer this electronic service to customers,” Simplifile President Paul Clifford said. “It’s wonderful to see counties like Berrien and St. Joseph on board and helping their customers save time and money on recording.”
Probate Judge Alan King agreed. He said, “This is another technological step forward for the attorneys and citizens throughout Jefferson County, the state of Alabama, and the United States to record land and public records in a convenient and cost-effective manner. Customers may now eRecord certain documents without ever leaving the office.”
eRecording makes it easier for customers to correct rejected documents in a timely manner, allowing them to be notified immediately of rejected document status and have the ability to correct and resubmit them without having to worry about mailing delays. Increased document security and fewer check-writing expenses are also some of the benefits of eRecording, as recording fees and payments can be processed securely via electronic funds transfer.
