DeCastro has nine years’ experience as a real estate attorney with several Miami law firms, including representing institutional lenders and owners in a number of multi-million- and billion-dollar transactions.
North American to centralize commercial work into one division
“With the growth of our commercial division, it became obvious we needed to expand our existing experienced staff,” said John Shafer, director of the national commercial division for North American Title. “We are pleased that Krista brings her commercial background and transactional experience to our group. She is a valuable asset and will enhance the overall experience level of the department.
“We look forward to broadening our customer base and increasing our national presence with Krista on board,” Shafer continued. “She will be very involved as we continue to work in partnership with our customers.”
DeCastro has represented private and institutional investors, lenders, buyers, sellers, landlords and tenants on real estate transactions, including financing, acquisition, disposition, leasing and management of real property. She has particular expertise in hotel, marina, condominium, office, retail, residential and mixed-use properties.
Most recently serving as counsel with Tenzer PLLC, DeCastro previously worked as an associate for other Miami firms including Akerman LLP, Bilzin Sumberg Baena Price & Axelrod LLP; and White & Case LLP. DeCastro earned a bachelor’s of business administration degree from Emory University’s Goizueta Business School and her juris doctorate from Northeastern University School of Law.
A member of the board of directors of the Key Biscayne Bar Association, DeCastro is also a member of the Florida Bar’s Real Property, Trust Law and Probate Section as well as the Urban Land Institute, the Caribbean Bar Association and the Haitian Lawyers Association. She was named a “Florida Rising Star” by Florida Super Lawyers for 2013 and 2014.
