North American Title Group hired Ed Houston as director of product management, a new position for the company. Houston has 23 years’ experience in the title and settlement industry, beginning his career as a title officer and transitioning into information technology, where he eventually co-built an IT department with more than 6,000 end users.
“This is a significant hire for North American Title, as we are in a growth mode and expanding services to our employees,” North American Title Group President Tom Fischer said in a news release. “Ed has an extensive background in title, underwriting and technology systems, coupled with an ability to understand users’ needs across multiple platforms. Filling this crucial position is a big part of our strategy to invest in our business processes.”
Houston most recently worked as a senior account manager, software consultant, where he defined the work scope for customers’ title and escrow software implementation and upgrade projects. He previously was the director of process improvement for a large national financial company that offers title insurance, settlement and property data services. His position with that company evolved into a multifaceted leadership role with oversight of business development and marketing technology functions. Houston earlier spent 13 years with a large independent title insurer, where he held multiple positions overseeing complex technology solutions and eventually serving as the company’s chief information officer.
“Leveraging technology to help further relationships at an entrepreneurial company that is truly customer-focused is very attractive to me,” Houston said. “I also appreciate that North American Title Group is able to more quickly navigate the sea of changes within our industry.”
Houston has expertise in various Windows platforms, AIX, Citrix MetaFrame (including 1.8 certification), as well as MS SQL and MS Access databases and the Salesforce1 SaaS platform. His education includes general computer studies and UNIX/AIX studies at Arapahoe Community College in Denver. Houston also has experience as a coach and public speaker.
