California has expanded electronic recording of land documents in Merced County with Simplifile.
“Our customers are able to submit documents when they have them ready,” said Barbara Levey, Merced County’s assessor-clerk-recorder-registrar of voters. “We also are able to provide a much faster turn-around to the customers. They are getting their recorded documents quickly, often within minutes of their submission to us.”
With e-recording available, users can quickly and conveniently scan, upload and submit their documents electronically to the county via the internet. Levey said the county sees value in the fee calculation process and in the imaging process that is available through Simplifile’s e-recording service.
According to Merced County Chief Deputy Recorder Jennifer Padilla, the county is currently accepting various types of documents for e-recording through Simplifile, including all deeds, deeds of trust, reconveyances, substitution of trustees, trustees deeds, cancellation of defaults and notices of defaults.
