Putnam County, Fla., implemented electronic recording of documents through Simplifile, eRecording service, giving customers a secure, online recording option.
“The Putnam County Clerk of Courts office is continuing to offer access to our office by using the latest technology,” Putnam County Clerk of Courts Tim Smith said in a release. “eRecording will now allow a document to be submitted for recording over a secure connection with the recording office. Simplifile will allow the filer to submit the document and will accept the payment of recording fees without the need to visit our office. This service is available to the business community along with the public.”
Using Simplifile’s secure, web-based service, customers ranging from title companies to banks, attorneys, and lien filers, will have the ability to scan or upload and submit documents such as land records directly to the recording office and have them stamped, recorded and returned in minutes.
“Our experience with Simplifile has been excellent so far,” said Melanie Bryan, recording supervisor at Putnam County. “We’ve received great support from the folks at Simplifile in getting us ready for the live production. We are accepting all general real estate documents such as deeds, mortgages, releases, assignments, affidavits and other documents that are commonly recorded in the Official Record.”
Fewer payment errors, stamps, mailing expenses and less overall paper waste are some of the benefits that come with eRecording, the release stated.
“eRecording has without question become the preferred method for submitting public land documents and records for recording nationwide, and we are thrilled to be providing this service for Putnam County and their customers,” Simplifile President Paul Clifford said.
With the addition of Putnam County, there are now 44 counties in the state of Florida that have adopted eRecording with Simplifile.
