According to Clark County Register of Deeds Peggy Walter, her decision to implement eRecording “stemmed from the new and tougher” Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) regulations, which will go into effect later this year.
“Clark County is now able to assist title companies and banking industries in meeting certain aspects related to this regulatory process by offering the option to record documents electronically,” Walter said. “The office will experience reduced costs as a result of electronic recording, including savings incurred by the office for postage and envelopes when mailing recorded paper documents and the return of rejected documents to a submitter.
“Our customers will also benefit from these cost savings, as well as realizing productivity gains with the immediate feedback from our office as to any document deficiencies and the immediate return of recorded images,” Walter said.
The Wisconsin county now can process recording fees and payments securely through Simplifile, eliminating check-writing expenses and reducing payment errors.
“I am truly impressed with how user-friendly the program is,” Walter said. “The implementation of Simplifile’s QuickStart program has proven to be the perfect solution for getting our county up and running with the electronic recording of documents.”
There are now 45 counties in the state of Wisconsin that have adopted eRecording with Simplifile.
