Two more counties now are accepting electronic documents for recording through Simplifile, an eRecording service. eRecording is the method of submitting, receiving and processing documents such as land records for recording online, which otherwise are submitted by mail, runner or courier service.
“Coos County opted to institute eRecording as a way to better serve our citizens and customers,” Coos County Clerk Terri Turi said. “It is proving to be an efficient way to conduct business. We are looking forward to optimizing this service throughout the coming months.”
“We wanted to become an office that is forward thinking,” Lander County Recorder Lesley Bunch said. “Most of the other counties in the state are already working with Simplifile, and while I was campaigning it was one of my promises.”
Using Simplifile’s web-based service, customers such as title companies, banks, and legal offices can electronically prepare or scan and upload documents and send them securely through Simplifile to the clerk’s office.
Once the documents are received electronically at the county, they are reviewed, stamped, recorded and returned back to the submitter through Simplifile in minutes.
Recording fees and payments also can be processed securely through Simplifile, eliminating check-writing expenses and reducing payment errors.
Coos County is the 17th Oregon county to adopt Simplifile’s e-recording service. Lander County is the 13th in Nevada.
